Congress Condemns Party Leaders' House Arrest
Party leaders termed the house arrests as barbaric given that they happened on a day that the entire state was celebrating the Telangana Formation Day.
TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy today strongly condemned the house arrest of Congress leaders of the state who were going to attend the proposed Jala Deeksha in different places of the state demanding that the state government immediately complete all the pending irrigation projects in the state.
Reddy termed the house arrests as not just undemocratic but barbaric given that they happened on a day that the entire state was celebrating the Telangana Formation Day.
The police kept almost all the Congress leaders including the TPCC president under house arrest for many hours today to stop the protest, something that attracted the ire of the leaders and caused plenty of tension.
Reddy expressed his anger over the move of the government, and demanded that the police immediately withdraw from the houses of the Congress leaders.
He said that stopping a peaceful protest by the party and unwarrantedly arresting its leaders was arbitrary and illegal, and alleged that the state was witnessing a dictator's rule.
Several other party leaders including MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and N Janardhan Reddy also condemned the house arrests as barbaric. They said that the arrests were an evidence to prove the dictatorial tendencies of CM K Chandrashekar Rao.
