The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday accused MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi of promoting religious extremism.
Addressing a press conference at the Gandhi Bhavan, TPCC spokespersons G Niranjan and B Kamalakar condemned the speech delivered by Asaduddin Owaisi at a public meeting at Darulsalaam on January 4 wherein he reportedly stated that all people were born as Muslims and their parents changed their religion thereafter.
They alleged that such statements would create enmity between different communities and therefore posed a threat to the secular fabric of the country.
They said that Owaisi's statement did not match with his claims of being secular.
Niranjan accused the MIM President of promoting religious extremism and asked him to learn to respect other religions.
The TPCC leaders blamed BJP leaders for inciting the communal hatred in the country with their slogan of "Ghar Wapasi". They demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi step in to prevent such moves from the BJP leaders since such provocative statements would prevent him from fulfilling his dream of developing India.
