Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today met Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Prahlad Joshi in New Delhi, and urged him for immediate release of pending arrears totalling Rs 1,468.94 crore for rice procured during the 2014-15 fiscal year.
In addition to the 2014-15 arrears, Reddy appealed for the release of Rs 343.27 crore for rice supplied under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) from May 2021 to March 2022.
He also requested the extension of the Custom Milled Rice (CMR) delivery deadline to facilitate smoother operations and ensure timely payments to farmers.
Reddy asked for urgent disbursal of the funds, which he said had been pending for over a decade.
He also updated the Union minister of the State's measures in supporting farmers, and said that the Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation had procured approximately 5.06 crore tonnes of paddy worth Rs 88,000 crore over the past seven years, a record achievement at the national level.
These discussions are part of a broader effort by the Telangana government to secure Central assistance for various State projects and pending dues. In previous meetings, the CM had sought substantial funding for initiatives such as the Musi development project and the Jal Jeevan Mission.
