As part of celebrating Christmas as a State festival in Telangana, the government will distribute clothes to poor Christians on December 16, according to former Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Dr T Rajaiah.
Talking to mediapersons at the Secretariat Media Point on Tuesday, the TRS leader said that the State government had allocated Rs 15.37 crores for distributing new clothes to poor Christians in 195 churches in Hyderabad and Secunderabad and the districts.
The government will also host Christmas festival banquets in nodal churches across the State, including districts, on December 19, Rajaiah said.
Rajaiah expressed gratitude to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for conduct Christmas as a State festival as was being done in the case of the Ramzan, Bathukamma and Bonalu festivals.
The TRS government was pro-poor and implementing many welfare schemes in the State, he claimed.
