As part of the 21-day-long Telangana Formation Day celebrations, Farmers' Day was celebrated across the State today.
All elected representatives of the ruling BRS, including ministers, MLAs and MPs, hoisted the national flag at Rythu Vedikas in their respective areas and launched the celebrations, highlighting schemes including free power, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima and others.
To mark the occasion, the State agriculture department organised a series of programs including rallies with bullock carts and tractors. Farmers took part in the events across the State.
Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy participated in the celebrations in various villages in the Birkur and Banswada rural mandals of Kamareddy district. Similarly, Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy took part in programs in the Urumandla village of Chityal mandal of Nalgonda district.
MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha launched the Farmers' Day celebrations at Padmajiwada village of Sadashiva Nagar in the Yellareddy Assembly constituency.
Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy addressed the Farmers' Day celebrations at Vannel B village of Balkonda mandal of Nizamabad district, and said that Telangana had achieved a lot of progress in the agriculture sector during the last nine years, with the area under cultivation in the State reaching 2.2 crore acres.
Energy Minister Jagadish Reddy took part in the Farmers' Day celebrations at Yendlapalli village of Suryapet district, and said that agriculture had become a profitable profession in Telangana, and that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had changed the lives of farmers with the launch of several welfare schemes for them.
