Law And Courts Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy maintained that the issue of Telangana should be solved amicably and through discussions, and said these were the only options.
"Whether they take one month or 2 months, discussions must be held to thrash out a solution," said the Minister, in an interaction with media persons at the Secretariat on Saturday.
The Minister said that he was told by Congress In-Charge Of Andhra Pradesh Affairs Ghulam Nabi Azad during a meeting recently that he (Azad) would speak to all the leaders on the said issue.
Asked about the stand of Seemandhra leaders, Erasu said that he personally feels that discussions were the only alternative.
The Minister, who represents the Srisailam Assembly constituency in Kurnool district, was inducted into the state Cabinet for the first time, though he had won the seat for 3 terms as an MLA.
Erasu had lost his Atmakur constituency after the reorganization of constituencies in 2009, and is known as an undisputed politician and a strong party loyalist.
Asked to comment on YSR Congress Party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy moving the Supreme Court, the Minister doubted the integrity of the former.
"If you are honest, where is the necessity to run after the Apex Court?" he shot back.
The Minister found fault with the YSR Congress Party chief for seeking a stay on the direction of the High Court, which had earlier directed the CBI to probe into his assets.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is expected to visit Guntur district, and the Law Minister has been appointed as the In-Charge Minister of the district. (INN)
