Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy today exhorted the RTC employees to join duties by calling off their strike.
The minister was participating in some developmental programs in Vikarabad district, and in one of them, in Yalal, she had to face the ire of some of the striking RTC employees who confronted her demanding that the State government hold talks with them.
The workers argued with the minister about the government not calling them for talks on their demands despite the strike entering its 37th day today. Responding to that, Reddy said that the Chief Minister, whose word was final, had appealed to the striking workers repeatedly to join duties and then talk about their demands. She too said the same - that the protestors call off the strike and rejoin work first, and discuss their demands later.
For the uninitiated, some 48,000 TSRTC employees have been on an indefinite strike from October 6 demanding a hike in salaries and a merger of the corporation with the State government, among many other things.
