Officials of the Telangana Road Transport Authority (RTA) on Friday organized extensive checks on private buses on the Vijayawada highway at Pedda-Amberpet under Hayatnagar mandal of the Ranga Reddy district, and registered cases against 28 private vehicles for violation of Motor Vehicles Act.
The RTA officials took positions at Pedda-Amberpet and intercepted private buses plying in violation of the Act. A few buses were carrying passengers more than their capacity, while others violated several other rules including driving without permits.
Speaking to the media, they said that they were conducting the special check for the safety of commuters home-bound for the festival.
They said that they would take strict action against all buses plying in violation of the rules.
