Section 144 has been enforced in Hyderabad, and most business establishments in the city have been shut. Citizens who depend on public transport and RTC buses to commute have not been able to go to work, and the few autorickshaws plying on the road are having a field day, charging exorbitant rates for even small distances.
Overall, in all the Telangana districts, including Adilabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar and Warangal, the bandh has been quite successful so far.
Passengers have been stranded at bus stations, and businesses everywhere have been closed.
Telangana activists have thrown in their share of violence, by surrounding residences of ministers who have not resigned for the cause of Telangana and creating a ruckus demanding that they immediately resign. The houses of Malkajgiri MLA Akula Rajender and Warangal MP Gundu Sudha Rani were gheraoed by Telangana activists.
In Karimnagar, workers of the Singareni Colleries did not show up for work today, and the bandh was hugely successful in the region.
