Assembly Passes Key Amendments, Adjourns Sine Die

Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy chaired the session held amid Coronavirus protocols.
Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao proposed the amendments to the acts. There was no Question Hour, but KTR gave replies to the queries asked by other members.
The house also approved another key amendment to the GHMC Act, which now means that the State Election Commission needs to take the approval of the government before conducting elections to the corporation.
Apart from the amendment to the GHMC Act, the Assmebly approved an amendment to the Indian Stamp Act cancelling discretionary powers to sub-registrars in land registrations in the state on land prices.
An amendment to the Criminal Procedure Code, and another to the New Revenue Act to make the process of converting agricultural land to non-agriculture land hassle-free were among the main amendments got nod from the house.
After a brief discussion the house approved the amendments and the Speaker adjourned it sine die.
The Council will take up the same proceedings in its Wednesday session.
