The 8th session of the Telangana Assembly began in Hyderabad today.
The Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy introduced a motion for paying tribute to all former MLAs who had lost their lives in recent times.
The Speaker read out the names of the deceased MLAs - Kunja Bujji, Azmeera Chandulal, Ketiri Sai Reddy, Kunja Biksham, Meneni Satyanarayana Rao, Macharla Jagannatham, Rajayyagari Mutyam Reddy, Boggarapu Seetharamaiah and Chekuri Kasaiah - and paid tributes to them.
The house was later adjourned for the day after the adoption of the motion of condolences.
Pro-tem Chairman Bhoopal Reddy too introduced a similar motion of condolences in the Legislative Council. The council, too, was adjourned for the day later.
The Assembly session has been convened six months after the end of the budget session of the house. The state government is planning to table bills related to several welfare schemes in the house, including the Dalit Bandhu scheme. And the opposition parties are aiming to corner the government on promises made by the TRS including unemployment allowances and three acres of free land to the dalits of the state.
