Telangana Asks KRMB To Finalise Its Share In Krishna River
The State told the Board that AP had already utilised its share of the waters of the river, and that the Board should prevent AP from more use of the waters.
The State government has asked the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) to fix its share in the waters of the Krishna river for the ongoing year, and said that that would end the disputes in that area between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The ENC of the State Muralidhar made these submissions before the Board at Jal Soudha.
However, the ENC of AP Narayana Reddy did not attend the meeting. He sent advance information to the Board that he could not attend Friday's meeting as he had a visit to the Polavaram dam scheduled.
The member-secretary of the board Raipure and Muralidhar held the meeting in the absence of the AP ENC.
Speaking on the occasion, Muralidhar told the Board that AP had already utilised its share of the waters of the Krishna river, and that the Board should be firm in preventing AP from excessive use of the waters of the river. He told the Board that Telangana still had 141 TMCs of its share of the river waters that it was yet to use, and that it would utilise it share.
The three-member committee of the Board is likely to meet once again in the first week of the next month.
Meanwhile, the State government has already asked the Board to convene a full meeting of the Board as soon as possible. Muralidhar told the board that the State government would present all its arguments before the full Board meeting.
