BJP national vice-president D K Aruna today strongly condemned the attacks on the leaders and workers of the BJP and the ABVP in Siricilla that had taken place yesterday in Siricilla.
In a statement, she said, "It seems that the law and order situation in Telangana has gone to the dogs. Today, leaders of a party of the Opposition can be attacked even in police stations. The recent attack on the workers of our party is a shameful comment on the nature of the rule of the TRS. How can the party instigate encourage its members to attack the BJP and ABVP leaders and workers who were only trying to organise a peaceful protest? The attack is a result of our party's attempts to blockading the path of IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao in Siricilla while he was touring the town. The protestors merely wanted to question him about the filling of vacancies in the government departments, and on the issue of unemployment."
"While our leaders and workers were hauled off to the police station for a peaceful demonstration, the TRS' leaders and workers were allowed to enter the police station and beat up our activists. These are the actions of a minister elected in a democracy who is expected to work for the welfare of the citizens. It was he who abetted the attack on the protestors This should be considered the biggest crime of all," Aruna fumed.
The leader also alleged that KTR had indulged in such behaviour in the past as well, and flayed the ruling party for pressuring the police into not taking any action against the attackers, and claimed, "Law enforcement officials are made to buckle to the pressures of the TRS regime. Even the station house officer expressed his helplessness in controlling the attackers due to this."
She has demanded that the KCR government file cases against the TRS leaders and workers involved in the attack.
