Botsa Satyanarayana, an Uttarandhra Congress leader known to be a close confidante of the CM, has vocalized his interest in splitting the state, as he feels the Andhra region needs to be made a separate state. According to him, districts like Srikakulam will develop only if it attains statehood.
The comment has also made the Telangana leaders gleeful, and incensed activists and politicians of the United Andhra Pradesh movement. An effigy of Botsa was burnt in Tirupati. Botsa's remarks come at a sensitive time, since it is a matter of a few days before the Justice Sri Krishna Committee visits the Andhra region for its consultations.
Meanwhile, there is a nagging doubt in the minds of many as to which city will be made the capital of Seemandhra if bifurcation takes place, and pitches are being made for Kurnool, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam.
