Activists of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, led by Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao, on Sunday, stopped lorries belonging to the Seemandhra region, on Rajiv Rahadari, at Rangadhampalli in Siddipet.
The lorries were stopped in protest against Tadepalligudem MLA Alla Nani obstructing 21 trucks from the Telangana region, and also against the imposition of an RTO penalty on these trucks.
Demanding an unconditional release of trucks travelling from the Telangana region, Harish Rao accused Seemandhra leaders of resorting to "cheap gimmicks".
He also dismissed Alla Nani's claims that roads in the Seemandhra region were being damaged because of lorries from the Telangana region plying on them.
He demanded that the police book a case against Alla Nani for illegally stopping lorries.
He added that the trucks were carrying granite for the Andhra region.
Karimnagar MLA Kamalakar and Parakala MLA Bhikshapathi Goud also participated in the protest.
The traffic on Rajiv Rahadari came to a standstill, and the police had a tough time restoring it to normalcy.
According to reports, RTA officials had seized 21 lorries for carrying granite from Karimnagar to Kakinada Port on the wrong route, and for violating rules. (INN)
