Once again the Telangana agitation and Tollywood crossed paths, and this time the agitators stalled the shooting of a film starring Allari Naresh and Shriya, at the Rajendranagar Agricultural University on the city's outskirts.
The agitators forced the hero and the heroine to shout slogans in support of Telangana. There was a brief scuffle causing tension at the venue, and the car in which Shriya was sitting was pelted with stones.
The actress escaped unhurt, but vented her anger on Twitter. "How can they break my car, throw stones, stop the shoot and threaten me to say Jai Telangana on TV?" she tweeted later. "That too in broad day light! Police staring at all of this. What about freedom? Safety? Thank God the stone didn't hit me. Both the windows are broken. Seriously I'm disgusted," she added.
Tollywood had a tacit peace pact with Telangana agitators and expressed solidarity by closing down the theatres for two days. After that there were just a couple of incidents where shooting was disrupted.
This is the latest incident, and involves students of the Agricultural University and a low budget film. Normally disruptions have been taking place whenever there are statements or feelers from film personalities in support of Samaikhyandhra. (INN)
