10 Kg Rice To White Ration Card Holders Till November
The scheme will cost the government Rs 50 crore per month, and thus Rs 250 crore during the 5-month period. 2.79 lakh tons of rice will be distributed.
Telangana Civil Supplies Minister G Kamalakar today said that a free rice program would commence from Sunday in the state to help the poor who have lost their livelihoods due to the situation created by the coronavirus.
The minister will launch the program, under which 10 kilos rice will be given free to all white ration card holders every month till November, from Karimnagar.
While the Centre was giving 5 kgs of free rice, the state government would give 10 kgs rice to the people, he said.
The scheme would benefit 2.79 crore people, the minister added.
