The 36th Mahanadu of the Telugu Desam Party began at Visakhapatnam today. The three-day event was inaugurated by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and party chief N Chandrababu Naidu.
Around 2,000 police personnel have been deployed for the event being held at the Andhra University Engineering College grounds, which is being attended by over 25,000 party cadres, including ministers and MLAs of the Telugu Desam Party from both the Telugu states.
Tomorrow, the second day of the Mahanadu in Visakhapatnam, will coincide with the birth anniversary of the late party founder N T Rama Rao (NTR).
As many as 24 resolutions will be passed during the event, and the President will be elected on the last day.
This is the first time since the bifurcation of united Andhra Pradesh that the TDP is holding two Mahanadus - one each in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The Mahanadu in Telangana was held on May 24 in Hyderabad.
