TDP Wins Two Wards In Andaman & Nicobar Civic Polls
This is the first victory for the TDP outside the Telugu States after becoming a national party. The TDP also secured the second place in 16 other wards.
Winning two wards in the municipal elections in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands is the first victory for the TDP outside the Telugu States after becoming a national party.
Expressing happiness with the election results in the island, AP Deputy Chief Minister Chinarajappa said, "It was the first victory for the TDP after becoming a national party. The party will emerge stronger under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu."
He added that the TDP would soon spread its activities to other States, too.
The TDP won two out of 24 wards in the islands. Of the 24 wards, the BJP established a majority by winning in 10 wards, followed by the Congress in six, the TDP in two, the DMK and the AIADMK in one each, and others in four.
Another important development was the TDP securing second place in 16 wards.
