A day ahead of the scheduled meeting of an all-party delegation with prime minister Manmohan Singh over the illegal construction by the Maharashtra government on river Godavari as part of the Babli Irrigation project, a team of Telugu Desam Party leaders on Sunday met senior Communist Party Of India General Secretary A B Bardhan.
The delegation leaders urged Bardhan to extend his party's cooperation in Lok Sabha where the TDP is expected to raise the issue during the monsoon session of Parliament to commence from July 26.
Led by TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, the delegation highlighted the potential danger to 5 districts in Andhra Pradesh if the illegal construction on the river Godavari by the Maharashtra government is not stopped forthwith.
The TDP team is expected to meet Janata Dal (United) leader Sharad Yadav later on Sunday evening. The team is also believed to meet the National Human Rights Commission on Monday.
