Stating that jobless youth in rural areas were likely to suffer irreparable losses with the scrapping of the Zonal system in the State, Telangana TDP Working President A Revanth Reddy accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of cancelling the system bowing to pressure from some corporate educational institutions in the State.
Speaking to the media after installation of T-TDP legal cell at NTR Bhavan on Saturday, Reddy took serious exception to the Chief Minister's action in doing away with the zonal system. He also declared that his Party would launch a legal battle on behalf of the unemployed youth in rural areas.
He pointed out that the Zonal system came into being after intellectuals, in a series of discussions, realized that the rural youth couldn't compete with their urban counterparts in the matter of employment. With an intention to prevent injustice to them, the Zonal system was introduced through Article 371 D, he said, adding that new appointments and transfers were being done as per the Zonal system. The TDP leader also accused the Chief Minister of scrapping the Zonal system after the hasty move to reorganize districts.
