The TDP charged the Telangana CM with making a fancy presentation in the Assembly primarily to divert the attention of the people from the burning drought problem.
Coming down heavily against the TRS government, TDP politburo member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy charged Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao with making a computer-based presentation on irrigation projects in the Assembly primarily to divert the attention of the people from the State's burning problems.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Ravula said that his Party had raised 12 issues on the drought situation in the State, but the government had failed to respond to a single one of those.
He also said that the State government had failed to pursue with the Centre the issue of getting funds for drought relief works. Of the 433 drought-affected mandals, the TRS government had declared only 231 as drought-affected, he said.
He also added that the State government had failed to spend the allotted funds on the irrigation projects.
Criticising KCR's presentation on the irrigation projects, Ravula said that the TRS in its election manifesto had said that it would try to get national status for the Pranahita-Chevalla project. But now, as a result of it re-designing the project, it had jeopardized the chances of national status, and was trying to mislead the people by making fancy presentations.
Also, when the State was reeling under a drought spell and debt-ridden farmers were committing suicides, KCR had announced allocation of crores of rupees for ministers, constituency development funds and district Collectors without the approval of the House, Ravula added.
Telangana TDP general secretary Amarnath alleged that there was an inordinate delay in the sending of the drought report to the Centre by the TRS government.
