The Congress Legislature Party, on Tuesday, said Telugu Desam Party MLAs must apologies to the people for staging a dharna at the chief minister's office over the energy crisis in AP.
Addressing a press conference at the CLP office, government chief whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy accused the TDP MLAs of enacting a political drama over a public issue. He alleged that the TDP MLAs had misused the CMO to stage their protest, which, he said, was aimed at drawing publicity through the media.
Gandra Venkataramana Reddy said that the TDP has been losing popularity, and that that was the reason why it has been staging protests on one issue or the other to win back people's confidence. He said that people would never "fall pray to its political stunts".
He claimed that chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has been making serious attempts to resolve the ongoing power crisis, and added that the government had even offered to remove VAT on the diesel that the industries use to draw power from generators.
He said that the state government was willing to accept suggestions from all the opposition parties over the issue. He said that it was wrong on the part of opposition parties to level baseless allegations and resort to political stunts, instead of advising the government. (INN)
