Vehicular traffic was thrown out of gear on Wednesday as a large number of Telugu Desam Party activists converged in front of the state assembly to protest against the
manhandling of their party president N Chandrababu Naidu and his team by the Maharashtra police.
The TDP activists, including physically-challenged men and women, gathered in front of the gates of the state assembly and tried to make their way inside.
The police had a tough time trying to keep them from entering the premises.
The hundreds of TDP activists and the large number of security personnel spilled onto the busy road, leaving a narrow space for vehicles to pass. This resulted in a traffic jam on the busy road.
The traffic police, however, swung into action and herded the TDP supporters close to the boundary of the assembly premises, gradually easing the situation.
