Senior TDP MLA Ambati Brahmanaiah died in Hyderabad on Sunday. He was 75, and is survived by three daughters and a son.
He was admitted to Global Hospital, where he breathed his last on Sunday morning.
Born on January 13, 1940, Brahmanaiah entered active politics through the Janata Party. However, he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly in 1994 from Machilipatnam, and in 1999, he won the Machilipatnam Lok Sabha seat.
He was also a member of the Committee On Urban And Rural Development, and the Committee On Absence Of Members From The Sittings Of The House.
In 2009, he defeated Congress candidate Mandali Buddha Prasad to win the Avanigadda Assembly seat.
He was also the TDP president of Krishna district for almost 9 years.
Brahmanaiah was also a sportsman, and played shotput, racing, discus throw and swimming. He was the winner of junior championships in high school.
He also stood first in swimming in the Andhra Pradesh MLAs Cultural And Sports Meets held in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999.
Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and other leaders expressed their condolences over Brahmanaiah's demise. (INN)
