Mahanadu Begins, Naidu Vows To Make AP No. 1
The entire vicinity of the festival, being held in Tirupati this year, turned colorful with yellow flags everywhere along the roads leading to the venue.
TDP annual foundation day celebration / convention "Mahanadu" started in Tirupati today.
TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the convention by hoisting the Party flag. He garlanded the statue of Party-founder N T Rama Rao later.
The entire vicinity of Mahanadu turned colorful with yellow flags everywhere along the roads leading to the venue. Almost all Party MPs, ministers, legislators and others are attending the three-day annual event.
Addressing the gathering on the first day of the convention, Party supremo Chandrababu Naidu said that Mahanadu was a festival where all TDP workers were equal. "I am participating in the meeting as an ordinary member," he said.
Recalling the services of late NTR, he said that it was that great man who protected the self-respect of the Telugu-speaking people across the globe wherever they lived. The TDP came into existence for the welfare of farmers, women and youth, he added.
The AP Chief Minister also lamented that Andhra Pradesh had suffered a great loss on account of the "unscientific" bifurcation of the united State. It was the responsibility of the TDP government to put the financial position on right track, he said. He vowed that he would not rest until the State was second to none in development.
