An all-party meet was held in Hyderabad on Sunday, to discuss the problems being faced by farmers in Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting was called by the Telugu Desam Party, and was attended by the CPI, the CPI (M), the Lok Satta Party and the Forward Bloc.
TDP president Chandrababu Naidu said the state government has failed to provide for subsidized inputs like seeds and fertilizers, even after a fortnight of the kharif season has passed. He also condemned the fact that a huge quantity of the rabi crop is still lying unsold in godowns because the government has delayed announcing the MInimum Support Price.
The all-party meeting has decided to demand from the government a state-level committee for fixing prices of crops to ensure that farmers get the Minimum Support Price for their crops.
The TDP also plans to launch a village level signature campaign to address farmers issues mount pressure on the Centre to look into farmers' problems.
