Although the decision of the Telangana government to construct 140 godowns was commendable, there were still largescale financial irregularities in giving tenders for their construction in the State, TDP floor leader A Revanth Reddy alleged.
Speaking to the Media on the Assembly premises, Revanth Reddy said that even though the government's move to establish new godowns was welcomed, civil works and the contract for supplying tins and other materials worth Rs. 512 crores was given to one firm owned by a person who has close links with bigwigs in the State government, the TDP MLA alleged.
He also alleged that corruption of the scale of Rs. 150 crores had taken place while handing over the contracts to a firm.
Demanding an inquiry into financial split up, the TDP leader said that the Irrigation Minister was trying to mislead the Assembly by not answering the questions raised by the Opposition about the corruption in according the tender to a firm.
