Reiterating that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) would extend all moral support to victims of harassment by microfinance institutions , TDP MPs Ramesh Rathod and Gundu Sudharani, MLAs R Prakash Reddy and V Narender Reddy visited Kakatiya Colony, Maheswaram and Rayaparthi in Hyderabad on Sunday and extended financial assistance to them.
After distributing cheques to the tune of Rs. 10,000 each to the kin of MFI victims, the TDP leaders expressed serious concern over the arm-twisting measures of MFIs agents.
The leaders also urged the victims not to repay the loans taken from MFIs until the government made its stand clear on the ordinance and waiving off the loans.
The TDP leaders advised the loanees to bring it to the notice of district leaders immediately if anyone tried to recover the loans by using abusive and forceful measures.
The activists said that the victims were forced to commit suicides as the State government was not responding properly and promptly on providing financial assistance to them.
Following the directions of TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP leaders said they would intensify their agitation in the district against government over MFIs.
