TDP Chief Naidu Lashes Out At AP CM Jagan Again

TDP head Chandrababu Naidu today flayed Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jaganmohan Reddy for approaching the Supreme Court on the Panchayat election issue.
Hyderabad | 26th January 2021
TDP head and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today weighed in on the recent feud between the state government and the State Election Commission (SEC) on the matter of the organisation of the Panchayat elections in the state.

Naidu slammed Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy over the latter's decision to approach the Supreme Court of India in a bid to postpone the elections, and alleged that the "criminals-turned-politicians" of the state were trying to weaken the judiciary and the Constitution of the country.

Speaking to the media, he opined that it was wrong on the CM's part to have approached the Supreme Court on the issue when the AP High Court had already issued a clear verdict on the matter just days ago, and had given the SEC the green signal to hold the elections.

"The CM needn't have approached the Supreme Court as the Andhra Pradesh High Court had already issued a clear and logical verdict on the matter. After all, justice does not change just with a change of judges - this was clearly proved with the decision of the Supreme Court, which was the same as that of the state's High Court," the former CM said.

Referring to the comments made by the Supreme Court regarding the "highly deplorable" act of the state's various employees' unions of issuing resolutions against the Election Commissioner, he said that the unions were facing such criticism all because of the actions of the current CM.

Naidu also rebuked the unions for involving themselves in political issues instead of fighting for the employees they represented.

Besides this, he also expressed his displeasure at the AP Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan for "failing" to take note of the government's various illegal acts.

"The Governor has not taken any action against the government even though the latter has violated several laws. He has failed to discharge his duties satisfactorily. This is unacceptable. The state stands on the brink of disaster today because of its inefficient and compromised rulers. I would like to remind the state government that the state should be run according to the Indian Constitution, and not Raja Reddy's Constitution," the TDP chief said.

(Y S Raja Reddy, a prominent politician, was the father of two-time CM of Andhra Pradesh, Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, and grandfather of current CM Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.)

Chandrababu Naidu has been flaying the AP government, specifically the CM, over the issue for some time now.
