Leader of the Telugu Desam Party in the Lok Sabha Nama Nageshwara Rao on Wednesday apologised to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on behalf of his party, for the
outburst against the senior leader by Sivaprasad Naramalli.
The TDP MP had shouted at Pranab Mukherjee when the katter had asked an agitated Naramalli to take his seat during a protest on the Babli issue at the well of the House.
The TDP and Shiv Sena MPs had raised a ruckus near the Speaker's podium, shouting slogans and counter-slogans over the issue of illegal constructions across river Godavari by the Maharashtra government.
The din had led to senior parliamentarians, including Pranab Mukherjee, leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj, and Gopinath Munde, appealing to the agitating members to resume their seats as they were awaiting a statement by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal on the issue.
The agitating TDP members had refused to comply with the requests and kept on with the slogan shouting, forcing Speaker Meira Kumar to adjourn the proceedings for the second time in the day.
The first adjournment was forced by the slogan-shouting, soon after the house had assembled for the day.
Pranab Mukherjee had lost his temper when Chittoor TDP MP Naramalli refused to go back to the seat and shouted at the finance minister.
Congress MPs Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Haroon Rashid, Jagadambika Pal and M Jagannath defended the leader of the House.
Sushma Swaraj finally managed to pacify Naramalli, who returned to his seat, but not before forcing the second adjournment till 12 noon.
The TDP apology came after the house reassembled when Nama Nageswara Rao went up to the leader of the House and issued his apology by addressing the senior leader as 'Pranab Da'.
