Hyderabad | 21st January 2015
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday sought assistance from the Central government to tackle the rising swine flu cases in the state.

The Chief Minister spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday morning and urged him to send a Central team and other required assistance to Hyderabad on a war-footing.

He briefed the Prime Minister on the latest situation, and assured that the state government was taking all possible measures to prevent the spread of swine flu in Telangana. He also spoke to Union Health Minister J P Nadda about the swine flu cases in the state.

Later, KCR spoke to Telangana Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma and expressed his displeasure and anger over the mishandling of the situation by the health department officials which increased the casualties due to swine flu making Telangana the worst hit state in the country. He directed the Chief Secretary to prepare an action plan to prevent further damage due to swine flu.

Stating that the impact of swine flu may last another 20 days, he also advised the people to take all possible precautions to keep themselves safe from the disease.

KCR has also convened an emergency cabinet meeting at 5 pm today to review the impact of swine flu in the state.

Meanwhile, Telangana's Health Department Secretary Suresh Chanda has left for Delhi to brief the Centre on the situation and get the required assistance for the state. (INN)
