As the New Year dawns, the state gets a new Chief Secretary (CS), S V Prasad. The current CS, K Ramakanth Reddy, was set to retire this September but had sought an extension of his service by 6 months. His tenure will be terminated on 31st December 2009.

Senior bureaucrat S V Prasad is an IAS officer of the 1975 batch, and has served as Chief Secretary to 4 CMs so far. He is also Chief Commissioner Of Land Administration (CCLA). He had earlier worked as principal secretary to Chandrababu Naidu when he was CM.
