Prime accused Bhanu Kiran was absconding ever Suri's murder on 3 January last year.
The Crime Investigation Department of the state police, on Saturday, arrested Malishetty Bhanu Kiran, the prime accused in the murder case of M Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri.
Addressing a press conference at the State Police Headquarers in Hyderabad, Additional DGP (CID) S V Ramana Murthy said that Bhanu was absconding ever Suri's murder on 3 January last year.
He said that after committing the offence, Bhani absconded from the scene of offence with the help of his associates Manmohan Singh, Sulam Subbaiah, Venkata Hari Babu, Boya Venkata Ramana and others.
But while the other accused in the case were arrested, the CID could not trace Bhanu.
Ramana Murthy said that after killing Suri, Bhanu fled to Delhi via Sholapur, Pune and Mumbai. There, he stayed in Shama Lodge at Gurgaon, for a few days.
While he was at Delhi, Manmohan Singh absconded from his room. Immediately, he vacated the room, and from there he want to Seoni, a township in Madhya Pradesh, where he rented a house and got a ration card, a driving license and a PAN card in the name of Mahesh Kunjuman.
In order to conceal himself and to avoid police arrest, Bhanu kept moving from one place to another quite frequently, and also changed his attire.
Ramana Murthy said that based on credible information, Bhanu was arrested near Zaheerabad of Medak district, on the border of Karnataka.
The CID also seized the revolver used in the Suri's murder, and 6 live cartridges.
He said that Bhanu would be produced before the VI ACMM Court at Nampally, for judicial remand. He said that Bhanu is to be thoroughly interrogated to unearth his illegal activities. (INN)
