Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy, on Friday, stated that Bhanu Kiran, the prime accused in the murder of Maddelacheruvu Suri, is alive.
Talking to media persons in Kakinada, the DGP denied reports that appeared in a section of media that Bhanu Kiran was dead.
He said that the department is making efforts to catch Bhanu Kiran alive, and that a police team is already on the job.
Responding to the violence of Maoists in the Agency areas, Dinesh Reddy said that the police department is taking measures to observe Maoists' movements on the Andhra-Odissa Border.
However, he opined that Maoist violence in AP has reduced due to the intensification of combing operations in the border districts.
He said that the government would provide additional security at petrochemical plants to prevent any untoward incidents.
The DGP said that a notification for filling up 12,000 posts in the department has been issued.
Further, he announced that 8 new police sub-stations would be established in the East Godavari district soon. (INN)
