SC Too Declines Permission For Moharram Processions

With this there might not be any processions in Hyderabad either, especially given that the High Court has already declined permissions for any processions.
Hyderabad | 27th August 2020
The Supreme Court today declined permission for Moharram processions in the country to check the spread of the coronavirus.

Ruling on a petition, the apex court ruled out permission for processions as it would lead to increasing the spread of the coronavirus.

The court was asked to offer permission on the lines of the one given to the Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra in Odisha.

However, that yatra was confined to a single area and a single route, while Moharram processions were countrywide, leading to much greater risk, the court said.

With this there might not be any processions in Hyderabad or anywhere else in Telangana either.

As readers know, the High Court has already declined permission for any such processions in the city.
