Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, of the BRS, got a huge relief on Monday as the Supreme Court issued a stay order on the High Court's verdict declaring his election as invalid and declaring D K Aruna, who stood second, as the legitimate MLA.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Dipankar Datta also issued a notice to Aruna and sought her response within four weeks.
On August 24, the Telangana High Court ruled as invalid the 2018 election of Reddy, who had won the election for the Gadwal Assembly seat, for suppressing information relating to his property while filing his poll affidavit.
The High Court had also declared the BJP's Aruna, his defeated rival, as the MLA. Aruna had contested the election then on a Congress ticket but is now with the BJP, and is now a national vice-president of the party.
