Supreme Court's CEC Visits Kancha Gachibowli Land
The Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee today conducted an inspection of the Kancha Gachibowli land near the University of Hyderabad.

The Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC) today conducted an inspection of the Kancha Gachibowli lands at the University of Hyderabad (UoH), following complaints of significant environmental violations.
The CEC - led by Siddhant Das and comprising members C P Goyal, Sunil Limaye and J R Bhatt - reviewed the 400-acre area located in Survey No 25 in Gachibowli.
The committee members examined the local vegetation and wildlife conditions, and inquired whether the area qualified as a deemed forest.
After spending approximately an hour at the UoH, the committee proceeded to the Marri Chennareddy Human Resource Centre in Jubilee Hills, where they proposed a meeting with five UoH students to hear their perspectives.
A delegation of BRS leaders, including former minister Harish Rao, also visited the committee members at the Taj Krishna, and presented them a report comprising documents and visuals related to the land.
Representatives from the BJP, including MPs Etala Rajender, Raghunandan Rao and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, also met the committee and submitted their report.
Subsequently, the State government officials also met the CEC members and presented a comprehensive report concerning the 400 acres of land.
Later in the day, the committee is scheduled to meet senior government officials, including Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari.
On Friday, the committee will hear presentations from NGOs, student groups, and other stakeholders who have raised concerns about environmental violations at the site.
In accordance with the Supreme Court's instructions, the Committee is required to submit its report by April 16. The report is expected to play a crucial role in determining the future of the 400-acre land.
