The Supreme Court on Friday directed the Central Bureau Of Investigation to submit a comprehensive report on Obulapuram Mining Corporation's illegal mining operations in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, before 15 January 2012.
The court issued these directions after the probing agency sought more time to submit the report after studying the mining area, where the OMC had conducted mining operations in violation of rules and regulations.
The apex court also directed the Indian Council Of Forest Research And Education to study OMC's illegal mining operations owned by former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy in Tumkur and Chitradurga districts in Karnataka.
The court directed the ICFRE to submit a copy of its report to the respondents concerned as well.
Earlier, the CBI told the court that it would submit a charge-sheet on the OMC case by 4 December.
The apex court directed the investigating agency to submit its full-fledged report to the court before 15 January 2012. (INN)
