Bhanwar Lal, who took charge on Tuesday, expressed his keenness to remove bogus cards and stressed the need for every voter to possess the photo identity card.
Bhanwar Lal also exhorted those above 18 years of age to apply for enrolment as voters without fail.
The CEO was interacting with media persons after assuming his office where at the secretariat where he laid emphasis on photo id cards issue by stating that this was meant not only for voting, but for other purposes also.
Stating that only 94% of voters carried the cards, he was emphatic that 100% issuance of ID cards was a must and that it was his priority and target.
Instructions have been issued already in this regard to all district officers concerned, Bhanwar Lal said.
Lal stated that it was his 1st task to issue photo id cards to all the eligible voters of the State.
Pointing out the low franchise in the ongoing elections in Bihar, Bhanwar Lal stressed on the need to increase the polling percentage.
Lal said that he had already issued instructions to the District Election Officers to start the process of enrolment as the summary revision of draft rolls had already commenced. The CEO said he would tour the districts from November 6th, and interact with the district administration and the political parties to elicit information and feedback on any problems.
Bhanwar Lal also insisted on the importance of voters carrying good cards with legible and neat photograph affixed.
The CEO candidly admitted that he was not satisfied with the quality of his own voter ID card and displayed it to the press.
