Accusing the Telangana police of resorting to a "fake encounter" at Alair in which five undertrials were killed, a few youth resorted to slogan-shouting after the Friday prayers at Mecca Masjid.
While huge contingents of police forces, including the Rapid Action Force, were deployed near Mecca Masjid, activists of the Greater Hyderabad Youth Association (GHYA), an NGO, successfully pacified the agitating youth to restrain from any kind of violence.
GHYA Chairman M A Irfan suffered a minor injury due to the stone-pelting.
The situation near Mecca Masjid was brought under control within a few minutes. However, stray incidents of stone-pelting were also reported from a few other places like Moghalpura.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy, who was monitoring the situation from the Charminar ACP office, stated that the situation was under control and that additional forces had been deployed in all sensitive areas. (INN)
