Higher Education Minister P Sridhar Babu on Thursday stated that Apart from University Grants Commission funds, the State government will release a grant of Rs. 5 crores for the development of infrastructure facilities in the newly-established universities in the State.
Talking to media persons after emerging out of a review meeting convened under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Rosaiah at the Secretariat, Sridhar Babu said that the Chief Minister has agreed, in principle, to release a Rs. 5 crore grant for providing infrastructure facilities in the universities.
Babu said the Chief Minister has directed the higher education officials to verify the initial capital investment of the newly-established degree colleges.
The minister said that the CM has agreed to the proposal of recruitment of 500 lecturers on contract basis.
He said that the CM has also agreed to fill up all vacant posts in the Telugu Academy.
Reacting to the agitation of Telangana lawyers at the High Court, he said the 3-member committee appointed for the purpose would look into their problem.
