The criminal court at Nampally, on Thursday, remanded Botsa Vasudeva Naidu, the prime accused in the massacre of Dalits at Lakshmipeta in Srikakulam district, to 14-day judicial custody.
The court sent Vasudeva Naidu to judicial remand after CID officials produced him before the court.
The court also gave Botsa Vasudeva Naidu a prison transit warrant, following a request from the CID to shift him to Srikakulam as part of the investigation.
The court directed that he be lodged in the Central Jail in Srikakulam during the remand period.
The police has, so far, arrested 66 persons in connection with the incident of violence (which followed a land dispute) in Lakshmipeta, which claimed the lives of 6 dalits. (INN)
