The Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway conducted a special surprise road check on June 21 at Chintalapalli station on the Kazipet-Mahabubabad section, under the direct supervision of the Assistant Commercial Manager.
As many as 47 ticket-checking staff, 8 Government Railway Police personnel and 4 Railway Protection Force personnel were deployed in the check. This special ticket-checking squad went by road, and was stationed at Chintalapalli.
Several express and passenger trains were stopped at this station specially for the ticket-checking operation. All the coaches of the trains were checked simultaneously, leaving no scope for errant passengers to escape, the SCR said.
A total of 326 persons were apprehended for ticketless / irregular travel. 259 persons were found travelling without ticket, 11 persons travelling irregularly, and 56 in cases of un-booked luggage. An amount of Rs. 1,04,000 was realized towards penalty from these travellers. (INN)
