"Though Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is making highly objectionable comments against the Chief Minister K Rosaiah and the party High Command, Congress president Sonia Gandhi is not initiating action against him fearing a split in the party," said senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Monday.
Talking to media persons at the NTR Trust Bhavan, the TDP MLA stated that the Congress High Command had failed to initiate action against the Kadapa MP fearing the loss of 40 MLAs with the MP, and the potential collapse of the Rosaiah government.
Chandramohan Reddy predicted that the state would witness mid-term elections soon if Jaganmohan Reddy revolted, since as many as 40 MLAs would take his side.
The TDP MLA said that the 'deserters' from various parties including former film actress Roja and the widow of TDP founder NT Rama Rao, Lakshmi Parvathi, had joined Jaganmohan Reddy. He termed them as the 'iron legs' in the Kadapa MP's party.
Whichever party these 'iron legs' joined, the party would lose its charm and damage its prospects, Chandramohan Reddy stated. The TDP MLA advised Jaganmohan Reddy to encourage grassroots-level workers instead of sending invitations to 'iron legs' to address the finale of the Odarpu Yatra in Nellore district.
Reacting to the 'iron legs' extending support to Jaganmohan Reddy, the TDP MLA said that these developments would not affect the prospects of Telugu Desam Party.
