In a shocking incident, an inebriated man brutally killed his own mother for her pension on Sunday, under Hayathnagar police station limits.
According to inspector Bhaskar, Yeddula Shamala (65) was the widow of late Mohan Rao who had retired from the army. She was a resident of Satyanagar, Hayathnagar mandal in Nalgonda district.
Shamala's only son Harshavardhan (37) was unmarried.
Since the past 3 months, Harshavardhan was harassing his mother to give her pension money to him and requesting that she gets him married to one of their relatives. He was also pestering his mother to give him his share of property left behind by his father after selling it off.
On Sunday afternoon, he came home in a drunken state and entered into a conflict with his mother. During the course of argument, Harshavardhan got infuriated and snatched a stone pestle. He proceeded to hit his mother on her head with the pestle, killing her on the spot. Harshavardhan then fled from the scene.
Police reached the spot on getting information and shifted the body to hospital for autopsy.
A case has been registered under section 302 IPC against Harshavardhan and took up further investigations.
