Lok Pal Panel Members Clean: LSP

LSP President Jayaprakash Narayan has said that undermining the credibility of non-official members of the committee appointed to draft the Lok Pal Bill is unjust.

Lok Satta Party (LSP) President Jayaprakash Narayan on Tuesday said that undermining the credibility of the non-official members of the committee appointed to draft the Lok Pal Bill is totally unwarranted.

Dr. Narayan said in a statement that there could be no 2 opinions on the need for a robust and independent ombudsman to eradicate corruption. Mudslinging will merely derail the just and worthy cause for which India is fighting, he opined.

The former IAS officer stated that Shanthi Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan, members of the committee, have impeccable credentials, and that they do not require certificates from anybody.

The LSP chief pointed out that politicians of the mainstream political parties have been getting away by accusing each other of being corrupt, and have been conveniently burying the demand for an impartial investigation. A similar fate should not befall the move to create an independent and powerful Lok Pal, he added. (INN)
