Siddipet Collector Resigns From IAS, To Join TRS
Venkatrami Reddy attained infamy first for touching KCR's feet in an official function, and then for saying he wouldn't care even for the Supreme Court.
Hyderabad | 15th November 2021
Siddipet district Collector P Venkatrami Reddy today resigned from his post.
He submitted his resignation letter to the Chief Secretary of the state Somesh Kumar, and urged the latter to grant him VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme).
Minutes later, the state government issued orders approving the resignation letter of Reddy.
The resignation of Reddy has created a flutter. There are reports that he will soon join the ruling TRS, and be made an MLC.
Speaking to the media, Reddy heaped praises on KCR. He said that the TRS government was working hard for the welfare of the people of the state, and that KCR was moulding the state in a manner that the entire country was learning from.
He said that he had applied for VRS in order to join hands with KCR and serve the people of the state, and that he would join the TRS after getting an invitation from KCR.
Reddy first became (in)famous for touching the feet of CM K Chandrashekar Reddy during the inauguration of the integrated district Collectorate complex building at Siddipet. He then again landed in the eye of a storm when recently he warned seed distributors that he would shut their businesses if they sold any paddy seeds in the district, and that he wouldn't care even for Supreme Court orders. For the unversed, KCR has been seriously discouraging Telangana farmers from growing paddy.
Reddy is a conferred IAS officer - that is, he did not come in through the much tougher UPSC's civil services exam route. TOI also reports that he had just one year left in his tenure, anyway.
