Ministers from Seemandhra region on Wednesday insisted that there should be voting on the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill 2013.
Speaking to media persons at the Assembly media point, ministers - Erasu Pratap Reddy, T G Venkatesh, S M Ahmadullah and Thota Narasimham said that the resolution under Rule 77 necessitates voting on the Bill.
Since 159 MLAs hail from Seemandhra region compared to the 119 MLAs from Telangana, it would be easier to defeat the Telangana Bill on the floor of the House, they said.
They dismissed the statement that voting isn't required in the Assembly for a Central Bill.
They described such contentions as misleading.
They added that the opinion of majority is important in a democracy and that therefore Speaker Nadendla Manohar should go for voting on the Telangana Bill on Thursday, the last day of Assembly session. (INN)
