The Seemandhra leaders (including ministers) made it clear that their resolution, adopted on August 3, is firm and that they will stick to their initial decision to keep the state united.
As many as 14 ministers, 37 MLAs, and 11 MLCs from the Seemandhra region participated in a meeting held at the Ministers' Quarters on Thursday morning.
Talking to reporters later, state minister and Seemandhra Legislators Forum convener S Sailajanath said that the in the meeting, the possible presentation of the Telangana note during Union Cabinet's meeting, scheduled to be held this evening, was discussed.
He said, "The Seemandhra Congress leaders are firm in their stand on the division of Andhra Pradesh. The process of the Telangana formation should be stopped."
Sailajanath said that it has been decided to defeat the Telangana resolution in the State Legislative Assembly. Reportedly, it was also decided that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy should be pressurised to use his influence to stop the state's bifurcation.
Later, a delegation of ministers met the Chief Minister to brief him about the 3 resolutions passed during the meeting. (INN)
